At Confident Mother we recognise that all families are unique and it is our aim to tailor our services to your needs with this in mind our initial visit will focus on how best we can help you and your family. It is also important for you to meet with your Doula and ensure you get on well together as those first few weeks are very precious.

Our ultimate aim being to assist you in recuperating and bonding with your baby. Below is a list which contains some of the ways in which we can help you as you will see it is not exhaustive but hopefully will give you a few ideas.

• Physical and emotional support-particularly talking through the birth of your baby.
• Help and support with breastfeeding/formula feeding and expressing milk.
• Care for your newborn so you can rest and sleep.
• Baby care for example how to bath your baby, preparing baby’s room.
• Baby concerns for example sleeping, feeding, crying.
• Prepare and cook meals.
• Care for an older sibling for example playing with your toddler, doing school runs or helping with home work.
• Doing LIGHT housework i.e. vacuuming, tidying, washing and ironing baby’s clothes.
• Run errands, i.e shopping, collecting prescriptions, posting Thank you cards.

WHEN TO BOOK.

There is no set time really, however it is a good idea to contact us as early as possible to avoid disappointment on the other hand we have been able to help families who have already had their babies- so it is never to late to call.

Although we operate on a first come first served basis we will always do our best to help all the families who contact us, but please bear in mind that we do have to limit the number of families we have in order to be able to ensure a high standard of quality and flexibility

HOW LONG WILL I NEED A DOULA FOR?

The majority of families will book a Doula for around 6 weeks particularly if breastfeeding as this is generally the length of time it takes to establish breastfeeding. However you may wish to have a Doula anytime from 2 weeks to 6 months depending on your circumstances and other support. It is entirely up to you, some Mums love their Doulas so much they ask them to stay on permanently!!! We can work with you from 2 hours a day up to 10 hours a day again it is entirely up to you.(this is dependant on the distance travelled)

As previously stated we also work weekends and offer an evening babysitting service,as well as an overnight support.
